Currently Committed for UPDATE

In DB2 10 for z/OS a new feature allowing currently committed data was deployed, enabling an application reading data to have the option of viewing previously committed work. This allowed for greater application concurrency, comparability with Oracle and DB2 for LUW, and in some cases better data accuracy.

HOWEVER, this feature was only implemented for INSERT and DELETE operations, and does not work for UPDATE operations.

This request is simply to expand the feature to include UPDATE operations. This can be implemented by enabling either or these techniques (or some other technique of course):

1) retain psuedo-updated before row images in the table space.
2) retain psuedo-update before row images in a workfile for the duration of the unit of work performing the update.
3) store log RBA/LRSN values together with lock information for retrieval of before row images from the active log.
