Process times out due to locks held by another process. Have to resubmit the processes.

The first process has an exclusive lock on a row, the second process is trying to run an UPDATE statement (see below) and times out because it
can't get an UPDATE lock. The problem is, the WHERE EXIST statement doesn't have anything in this case so it won't UPDATE anything and
there never was a need to lock the table. Supposedly with Oracle, the WHERE EXIST SELECT statement would be checked first and the table would never be locked.

The PS_EXCANPMT_TAO1 table was empty at the time so no rows would need to be updated. The process it was waiting for should only have one row of the PS_EX_SHEET_HDR locked.

    Dear Cheryl,

Thank you for submitting this Db2 for z/OS enhancement request. We have reviewed this request and believe it is a good candidate

for the Db2 for z/OS product. However, it does not align within functionality prioritized for delivery within the next 12 months. Therefore, unfortunately, we will not be considering this idea at this time.

This idea will remain in our product backlog and may be revisited as we continue to plan for later features and functions.

We appreciate your input to the Db2 for z/OS development team. We hope that you will continue to submit enhancement suggestions for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS.

    Sincerely,

    The Db2 for z/OS Team
