Dear Jerry, We are pleased to inform you this Aha! idea is available in Db2 13 function level V13R1M503 where development lifted the IN list limitation when the query is offloaded to the IDAA.
We appreciate your input to the Db2 for z/OS development team. And we hope that you will continue to submit enhancement suggestions for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS.
Sincerely,
Db2 for z/OS Team
Hello Jerry and team. One of our Db2 development architects is reviewing this Aha! idea DB2AAZOS-I-209. Allowing more than 32767 items in an IN list for all cases will take several steps. Initially, we are assessing the effort to change the IN list limitation to a larger value when the query is offloaded to IDAA and the IN list items are literal constants only. From the SQL query in case TS005958455, it looks like all IN list items were literal constants, no parameter marker or host variable. We'd like to confirm that lifting the limit in this case is useful for your application. If so, we'd pick a new limit (larger than 32767) and would like that input from you as well.
Additionally, this feature would need to be approved by our leadership team and likely worked as a future release enhancement. Please let us know if this fits. Thank you for your input.
This is a limitation of Db2 for z/OS and not of the Accelerator. I will move the Idea to the Db2 for z/OS Ideas list.
