assistance with multirow fetch A single FETCH statement can be used to fetch several rows with the Db2 Precompiler and embedded Runtime. Arrays can be given as host variables (and as their indicators) in Db2 ESQL, and when ESQL executes the FETCH statements as their output arguments (bind-outs) from the COBOL application, arrays can be used as their indicators. The Db2 Precompiler supports the "For n ROWS" clause in the FETCH statement to pass the cardinality for the array FETCH statement. The variable "n" in the "For n ROWS" clause can be a short data type, a host variable specified as an integer, or an integer in the range of 2 to 32767. The Db2 precompiler for COBOL determines the cardinality of the array size depending on the declared size of host variables used in the SQL if the "For n ROWS" clause is not supplied. If the host variables being utilized are of varying sizes, the cardinality of the bulk or array is determined by the minimum size of all the host variables. Users can look at sqlca.sqlerrd(3), which shows how many records were fetched. run 3
