The current version of Db2 Warehouse on Cloud supports the enforcement of password policies and setting a duration of password validity before expiration, however there is no option to send email notifications to users to warn them that their password will soon expire or has expired.
With our current implementation we've started hitting the expiration threshold for most of our users since so many of them had already existed in the system since the password policy feature was first introduced to the Db2 Warehouse on Cloud web console. While some users have no problem with seeing a "PASSWORD EXPIRED" error during regular testing and know to simply reset their password and move on, others have been reporting the error message to me as if it was a bug or network issue since they had received no warning and believed their login should have still be valid. This is especially problematic for users planning on running scheduled jobs as some of these run overnight or on the weekend so they may not realize there was an error until the next day or several days later depending on how actively that particular user is checking.
The user management console already requires the inclusion of an email address for each individual user for use by the Forgot Password feature so the ability for the environment to distribute emails already exists, there just needs to be an additional feature added that would trigger an email to be sent to the user whenever the remaining password validity falls below a certain threshold of days. It would be preferable if this threshold is configurable by an admin.
