DataStage Snowflake Connector lacking "OAuth" support.

IBM DataStage Snowflake Connector is lacking feature to support OAuth.

From Security perspective and risk management department:

DTCC as an organization objective all connections to snowflake is - "to leverage OAuth token feature"

We need IBM to work with Snowflake product engineering which is where the hold up currently is from our recent call.

We have started a thread with Snowflake on the options and as of, there isn't a way in which this can be implemented. We would be discussing it further with snowflake on any alternatives. From whatever We read in the documentation, I'm less hopeful of any other outcome. We shall get back to you with final response after discussing further with Snowflake

Are we confirming with your discussions with Snowflake engineer that OAuth cannot be supported by DataStage.??

Unfortunately no. Given that there could be different Identity Providers each with different mechanisms to obtain the tokens and the tokens expiring after specific duration, it would not be possible to extend support, unless the burden of obtaining / refreshing the token is offloaded from the Connector.

In fact, the reason we took time to investigate was to see if there is a generic way in which the Token can be obtained and did not find any from the documentation.

Can DataStage connector have an option enabled to directly request the token from Ping and which can be passed to the jdbc url to connect.

    Thanks, Narayana.

Any authentication mechanism that would involve a UI redirect or token refresh, we would not be able to support it from the Connector.

From the Snowflake Documentation, it indicates that the OAuth authentication would need User Consent during the handshake and it would open a Browser Window for providing the credentials. Since it would not be possible to open a browser session from the Connector, this type of authentication involving a redirect cannot be supported.
