Ability to use Surrogate Key Generator in DataStage for Netezza DBMS

We are trying to use the balanced optimizer feature in DataStage 9.1 to
rewrite the ETL logic in SQL that runs on the Netezza appliance instead
of the DataStage server. We are looking for a way to generate the
surrogate keys that works in DataStage as well as when we optimize the
mapping to run on Netezza.

In speaking with a support representative, I have come to understand that this functionality does not currently exist and we are unable to use the Surrogate Key Generator stage in an environment with Netezza as the target DBMS.
