Enhancement Request for User Roles in IBM Planning Analytics

Dear IBM Planning Analytics Team,

I am writing to propose an enhancement to the user roles within IBM Planning Analytics. Currently, administrative roles in IBM PA possess comprehensive privileges across all aspects of the system. However, this level of access can present challenges in maintaining strict control over sensitive areas, particularly concerning security settings.

Enhancement Proposal:

I would like to suggest the introduction of a new role type within IBM Planning Analytics. This role would retain all the administrative privileges necessary for system maintenance and user management, except for modifying security settings in specific databases or modules. This segregation of duties would help ensure that critical security parameters are only altered by fully authorized personnel, enhancing our overall security posture.

Benefits:

- Increased Security Control: By restricting access to security settings, we can prevent unintended changes that may compromise the system's integrity.

- Enhanced Compliance: This role would aid in compliance with internal policies.

- Flexible Administration: Administrators can still perform necessary tasks without the risk of affecting sensitive security settings.

Thank you.

Regards,

Tomáš

    Hello Stuart ,

    Thank you for your response.

Could you please provide some details on the timeline and the expected delivery date for these enhancements?

Additionally, please note that the requirement is for administrators to retain all administrative capabilities, with the exception of adjusting security objects within individual databases. This would be similar to the modeler role but with the added administrative privileges outside of security settings.

Thank you once again for your attention to this matter.

    Best regards,

    Tomáš

Updated status to future consideration. The IBM Planning Analytics roadmap for 2024 includes the introduction of capabilities. These capabilities can be used to configure access to different features of Planning Analytics Workspace for each users. We will consider using capabilities to disable access to specific areas of the Planning Analytics Administration user interface. However, we are not planning to add capabilities for each database. Database access and visibility to databases is being addressed in a future update to TM1 v12.
