With both PAX and PAW we are able to create a new cube view by opening the cube viewer and clicking the save icon. Clicking this save icon will publish the view for later reuse. When views are created by this cube viewer within PAW/PAX the views are saved as MDX views.
This presents us with an issue as due to it being an MDX view, it is no longer visible through TM1Web/Spreadsheet Services as the view is created in the format .vbx (MDX) but TM1Web only supports .vue views currently.
Within PAX there is an alternative way to create a public view, by creating an exploration and then selecting save to server in the planning analytics ribbon. When the exploration is saved in this way, we are presented with an option to Save as MDX View, which determines the format the view is saved in. Which does give us a way to save views that are visible in TM1Web but this should also be possible through the cube viewer in PAW and PAX.

Saving a view from an exploration in PAX already does support the creation of both TM1 Native (non-MDX) views and MDX views. When saving an exploration the user is presented with an option to "Save as MDX View".
When this box is ticked an MDX View is created
When this box is unticked an TM1 Native (non-MDX) view is created
What I'm after is the option for "Save as MDX View" is also present when saving from the cubeviewer in PAX/PAW like it is for explorations in PAX.
I've updated the status of this idea to 'Not under consideration'. However, eventually all components of Planning Analytics should support the user of MDX based views and hierarchies. This includes custom and dynamic report modes in Planning Analytics for Excel and Websheets. Ideally, we would want a user to use a view stored in Workspace (not TM1) as the basic of any Excel report.
At this point we do not plan to support write back of TM1 native (non-mdx) views from the Planning Analytics clients.
