Allow Default Settings on a Workbook View to be defined as a System Setting

The New Experience interface (Release 78) of Planning Analytics allows the Overview section to be configured to display Hierarchy Names, Iconography, Context Information and Section Headers. By default only Iconography is set to display. Users find this frustrating that the Hierarchy name is hidden from dimensions and they must set this option each time. It would be useful to have a system setting that allow an Administrator to set the default hidden or displayed state for Hierarchy Names, Iconography, Context Information and Section Headers.

    Hi Stuart

It would be great if these formatting options could also persist with Visualisations. Ideally, they would cover Color Palettes as well as Axis, Legend and Chart properties. This would avoid having to modify every object on the canvas to choose different properties other than what is presented as system defaults. This would be applied as a template. Building on this, it would also be useful if a client could choose what the default settings should be in terms of the default fonts, color palettes etc without having to do this as a template.

I agree with the guest comment below. The Hierarchy Name setting is very critical for the users because it represents business logic in the data. Without the hierarchy or dimension names, it is impossible to interpret the data in the views. In comparison, the set names are very generic and abstract (e.g. All nodes, Report nodes, Default). When the users switch from the Classic views to New Experience, their user experience is greatly reduced because of that. Besides, many PA users are non-technical. Therefore, we would like to have Hierarchy Name setting activated by default, or at least to define it as a system setting.

Agree! and would like to emphazise that this is desired for already existing views (ie below comment from Admin does not help much). To see the hierarchy name is crucial to understand what data you are overviewing. And all users can not be super users.

This is partially possible with the current templates feature. A cube view that is added to a template will be stipped of metadata and data, but will persist all formatting options. However, this persisted formatting does not impact new views that are added to the book (it only applies to the blank view that is retained on the template). We can consider extending the template feature to also apply formatting to views being added to the book.
