The request expire time for HF scheduled request

We are expecting the instance request overwrite the RequestExpiry set in Template, and keep the request active until end time set by the scheduled request. There is high chance instance got terminated by AWS due to various reasons. Keeping the request open so that AWS can fulfil during the scheduled request active period.

Thanks for your suggestion. Yes, that is the workaround we have deployed. But it is not a clean solution as part of production. Since our management hosts are on cloud. So I have to set a script via on-prem autosys, ssh to a gateway machine, then cloud instance.

I think the solution for HostFactory is to overwrite fleet expiring time with the one set in the scheduled request rather than the one in template. In our case, Say the return time for scheduled request is 10 hours, the request fleet expire time should keep at 10 hours rather than 5 minutes, the one I set in providers template.

    Thanks

    Nancy,

If the use-case is to get 100 instances for 1 hour and after 15 minutes only 50 are provisioned, it is likely that the SLA will be missed, so extending the fleet expiry is a partial solution. It's better to make another request using a different template to get the capacity needed.

It it possible to handle this case using the HF REST API with your own monitoring mechnism, for example, for this use case, submit the request at 7:55, monitor the request for 15m and then back-fill the remaining capacity with another request.

Any comments & concerns for the recommended solution?

    Thanks, Dennis
