Make Workload Index Advisor available to DB2 for z/OS Developer Extenstion users

  • Index Advisor provides index recommendations focusing on single SQL queries
  • To avoid index redundancies developers need to be able to invoke Workload Index Advisor in order to obtain consolidated index recommendations based upon table or application based SQL workloads
  • Consolidated index recommendations help to reduce the number of table indexes resulting in improved SQL INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE performance and help to reduce disk space needed for  DB2 table indexes.
  • There are no plans to use DB2 Administration Foundation because invoking Workload Index Advisor is primarily seen to be a developer task and DBA tasks are performed by using DB2 Administration Tool functionality
