We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Post your ideas
Post ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,
Post an idea
Upvote ideas that matter most to you
Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea
Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests
The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Receive notification on the decision
Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.
As more of our users begin to move portions of their application and data to public and private cloud environments, we are seeing an increased desire to present a complete picture of the data across mainframe and distributed platforms. Adding AWS ...
Enable HTTPS access to the JDBC Gateway admin console via key ring
JGate was most recently enhanced to allow secure access by adding a keystore and password to the startServer script. While functional, this is a security exposure. We would like to use a RACF key ring instead.
NEVER fall back to IMS DBCTL when SQL is not eligible for IMS Direct
We have a requirement to restrict access to IMS Direct only. Users should not have access to IMS Online. In DVM when an SQL is not eligible for IMS Direct DVM directs the SQL to IMS Online despite IMS Online not being enabled in DVM. There is no o...
Per IBM direction, we are currently working towards fully populating the IMS catalog. This catalog could be used in a similar manner to the Db2 catalog when creating DVM virtual tables. Instead of providing the DBD, PSB and copybooks when creating...
Support for columns with names longer than 30 characters
DVM currently fails when attempting to create virtual tables over source tables with column names longer than 30 characters. DBMS's including Postgres, Oracle and DB2 LUW allow for longer column names.
Allow Logon to JDBC Gateway Console via RACF group instead of shared credentials
Currently the logon to each JGate console is via a single id/pw. These credentials must be shared by the support team which is not a best practice. When team members leave, all passwords must be changed (if that's even possible). If changing the p...
Provide detailed information about User Exit interface in product manual
Some of the IBM software products such as IMS, Db2 and Db2 HPU, etc. provide User Exit interface to enhance the product's capability to customers' particular requirements. Such products usually have a corresponding chapter or appendix in their pro...
before DVM termination, wait for seconds which defined in CLIENTQUIESCEDELAY until there are no PSB scheduled with DVM.
With above env, we issued
to terminate DVM while PSB is still scheduled.
Then, it caused U3398 error of that application.
We believe that termination command should wait till application will be stopped, or at le...
Use Data Stage data map as input to DVM Virtual Table definition
Currently Data Stage users who want to use DVM, must convert the Data Stage metadata maps to COBOL copybooks to be used when defining a DVM virtual table. It would be more efficient to the user to use the Data Stage metadata map as input to the DV...
Exploit the data that RMF is generating in online mode
GISS wants to exploit the data that RMF is generating in online mode, that is, to exploit the data that RMF is holding online. Probably an easy way is to access the VSAM file where RMF keeps the data, but we don’t know the record layout. We see th...
