Upvote ideas that matter most to you
Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea
Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests
The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Receive notification on the decision
Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.
Prevent package invalidation after ALTER TABLE ROTATE
System: Production management databaseActor: Developers maintaining the databaseDescription: Our customer runs a 24/7 production management OLTP system with IMS V10 and DB2 V9 for z/OS on which its transaction rate gets as high as 10 trans/sec, a...
Difficulties to migrate from old tablespace types to UTS.DB2 V10 gives us the opportunity to use the ALTER-syntax to change tablespace type from SIMPLE or SEGMENTED to UTS PBG without (almost) any outage. Unfortunately there is a limitation which ...
Enable customers running 24/7 to create unique indexes
Our Internet and Mobile applications are used 24/7 and we do not have any batch windows nor any maintenance windows. When creating new indexes on existing tables the a CREATE INDEX operation generates an unwanted outage when created with DEFER NO....
Stop package invalidation after ALTER MAXPARTITIONS
These days in an agile world we have to ALTER PBG spaces on-the-fly to raise the MAXPARTITIONS value. Sadly this ALTER, even though it is an immediate ALTER, sets all dependent packages to VALID = 'N' which is, of course, a disaster.
A number of our common customers run DB2 utilities from third party vendors and IBM replication solutions. They are requesting that our LOAD and REORG utilities write the old dictionary pages to the log for later retrieval by a replication produc...

I found that as soon as the DB2 Lock Escalation message occurred (DSNI031I), DB2 seems to begin rejecting the ESS SQL calls against this tablespace, *immediately* without waiting the DB2 lock timeout interval. This probably explains w...
Provide a ZPARM to prevent creating new non UTS-tablespaces
I have converted all single table tablespaces to UTS, but some days later new non UTS-tablespaces were created, which I again converted. And again new ones were created, so this process could go for ever.
The SAP data dictionary supports the creation of temp tables. This allows application developers to speed up the processing by temporarily storing result sets of queries in the database and later process them. The data is only kept until commit. T...
