We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Post your ideas
Post ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,
Post an idea
Upvote ideas that matter most to you
Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea
Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests
The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Receive notification on the decision
Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.
Modify HDR code to add a state whereby the secondary server can be allowed to perform ontape and onbar archives. Whether the server can remain in secondary mode or must be changed to an intermediary mode are both acceptable options, as long as the...
New feature to have FORCE_DDL_EXEC functionality for all DDL changes
The 12.10 manual states that the FORCE_DDL_EXEC environment variable can be used "to force out other transactions that have opened or have locks on the tables involved in an ALTER FRAGMENT ON TABLE operation". We'd like to see this functionality e...
Allow storage expansion and extension during an archive
Need the ability to use onspaces, onparams, & API functions to manage storage allocation while an archive is executing. This is especially true with auto-extension of chunks and auto-expanding dbspaces by adding chunks automatically from the s...

Informix documentation for oncheck command should be crystal clear
Informix documentation for oncheck command does not explain clearly that this command should be run only during a maintenance window or during an off-hours period because the oncheck utility places a shared lock on system catalog tables when the d...
Need an onmode option to terminate orphaned, tightly coupled global transactions. Onmode -Z does not address this case.
If a Java application that uses tightly coupled global transactions (such as from Geronimo / WebSphere app servers) abnormally terminates, it may leave the global transaction orphaned on the Informix database server. In this case, an onstat -G wil...
It should be possible to run external backups on HDR Secondary (beneath unbar/ontape backups). Probably the necessary enhancement is just to implement onmode -c block/unblock on HDR secondaries (update reserved pages).
When we create a view using a sensible-looking query, the database converts it into a version that has lots of extra parentheses and odd-looking table names. Below is an example of one of these converted queries. This is a relatively simple exampl...
