Map Visualization: make maximum legend items configurable. Current limit is 100.

When using a 11.1 Map visualization with a Points layer, it’s not possible to have the legend show more than 100 items. We have a dataset with 134 items, but the visualization cuts off the legend at 100 items even though the legend is scrollable and seems to be set up perfectly to accommodate a longer list.

When you roll over an item in the legend the corresponding point on the map is highlighted, which is great for map locations that have names familiar to end users. In the attached example most of the organizations are named after the city where they are located, but sometimes the organization names do not correspond to a city name, so it would be helpful for a user to scan through the legend to find the organization they are looking for and then roll over it in the legend to see where its physical location is on the map. But if the legend is cut off at 100 items, the end user doesn't have an easy way to visually search the list and select the organization.

We understand it might not be ideal to have a legend with thousands of items, but the 100-item limit seems a little short. Ideally Cognos should be enhanced so the end user can adjust the maximum number of legend items, but if that is more complicated to implement, maybe simply changing the hard coded maximum number to something like 500 or 1,000 would be a reasonable compromise.

Since this type of data visualization is consumed by upper management, the urgency is greater than usual.
