Allow users to change their language in profile

Our application is used by people from different countries. At the moment the only option of changing the language in CP4D is to change the default one in the browser. Having the option either on main page or profile would be a lot easier.

After a meeting between IBM and ING development, IBM now understands the requirements for languages - 1) we need a switch to set the CP4D user interface to the language of the users' choice. This does NOT mean English only - the requests were varying, but the summary is: let the user choose their language 2) since ING corporate policty controls all browser settings, CP4D would need to circumvent these settings. Optional browser plugins will likely be blocked by ING security (as they would be at IBM, as well). Thus, we need some kind of global brwoser override, for a specific portal (CP4D)

    Hi Malcom,

The specific use case we have right now with our colleagues in Italy. Their computers come pre-configured with the locale set to Italian. However they prefer english as working language for techincal terms used in Cloud Pak. The reasoning behind having a different locale than English is unknown to us, and I think irrelevant.

I think it's good practice to allow users to choose language at application level and not force them to choose system-wide parameters. These parameters could even be inaccessible due to limited permissions on some systems. This was not the case with our colleagues, as they were able to change it.

    Thanks!

Hi Alexandru, thank you for taking the time to submit this suggestion. This is an interesting request on this use case. While I understand the need to change the langauge profile, I would like to better understanding of this use case. Is the request to allow a CPD user to change the langauge within CPD that is different than what is set at their broswer level? So for example, the browser is set to use English-UK, but the user wants to use CPD displaying French? Is this example correct, if so how often does this occur where the end-users broswer is not set to their preferred lanuage and why is not set to their preferred lanuage?
