We normally use DSNTIAUL with several SELECT statment coming from other applications. We would like to use them in the SYSIN statement but because some of this queries has the comment row that begins with '--' characters, it does not work. To allow the use of the comment '--' in the DSNTIAUL SYSIN we have to modify the code of DSNTIAUL. Doing this the DSNTIAUL works well but if any maintenance will be applied it could occur that the customer change in the code will be removed. So we would like to suggest if it is possible to have this change done from IBM.

SQL supports 2 forms of comments, simple (--) and bracketed (/* */). DSNTIAUL works fine with bracketed SQL. One caveat, if running SQL instream don't start comment in CC1 unless you use DELIM. Ironically I have just completed an in-house presentation on SQL comments whose conclusion was that bracketed is preferred as it as it is more universal - including in a JAVA or REXX statement.

Thank you for submitting this Db2 for z/OS enhancement request. We have reviewed it and determined it is an enhancement that we are unable to position in our 24 month strategic plans, therefore, unfortunately, we will not be implementing this request.
