For Dynamic Plan Stability, Only store the actual SQL statement in STMTTEXT column

While reviewing the SQL statements in SYSDYNQRY.STMTTEXT column, extra characters are added to the end of the SQL. This requires extra processing when comparing to the REAL SQL-text. In some cases, but not all, a compare like the following is needed:

AND CAST ( SUBSTR(S.STMTTEXT,1,(LENGTH (Q.SQLTEXT))

) AS VARCHAR(32000))

= CAST ( SUBSTR(Q.SQLTEXT,1,(LENGTH (Q.SQLTEXT))

) AS VARCHAR(32000))

AND LENGTH (Q.SQLTEXT)+ 1 =

LOCATE ( X'00', S.STMTTEXT)

In this case, SQLTEXT stores the real SQL statement, and STMTTEXT stores the SQL plus additional characters concatenated at the end.

Dear Edward, Thank you for submitting this enhancement request. Our Db2 for z/OS development team reviewed and provided the following feedback: While it's doable, splitting the combined text and attribute string could be viewed as an incompatible change. We have this combined text in other places too: DSN_STATEMENT_CACHE_TABLE, IFCID 317.

Consequently, we will not be implementing this idea.

We appreciate your input to the Db2 for z/OS development team. And we hope that you will continue to submit enhancement suggestions for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS.

    Sincerely,

    The Db2 for z/OS Team
