Deadlock need to avoid for ALTER TABLE JOB

ALTER TABLE ALTER COLUMN job should be able to break-in RTS process.

Currently, the deadlock may happen between ALTER TABLE ALTER COLUMN job and CORRELATION-ID=014.RTSTST00.

We open CASE TS011962039 for the deadlock.

From user point of view, the failure of ALTER TABLE job should be aviod and RTS process should get the deadlock and retry the RTS process.

Could you change Db2 behavior that RTS get the deadlock instead of the deadlock of ALTER job?

    Hello Lakshya,

Thank you for submitting this enhancement request. Our Db2 for z/OS development engineers have reviewed it and the case stated in this idea. It is not clear why the ALTER would have deadlock with RTS on the syspackage t.s..

Can you please provide more detail information? We can then continue with the review.

    Sincerely,

    The Db2 for z/OS Team
