Dear Aaron,
Thank you for submitting this Db2 for z/OS enhancement request. We have reviewed this request and believe it is a good candidate for the Db2 for z/OS product. However, it does not align within functionality prioritized for delivery within the next 12 months.
Currently, Db2 does not collect statistics for 24-bit storage. However, Db2 does collect statistics for 641bit that can be found in IFCID 225. The following are the IFCID 225 fields for 64bit statistics, to name a few.
QW0225VA, QW0225FA, QW0225GA, QW0225GSG_SYS, QW0225SUG_SYS, QW0225GSG, QW0225SUG
Therefore, unfortunately, we will not be considering this idea at this time. We do plan to revisit this idea in the near future.
We appreciate your input to the Db2 for z/OS development team. We hope that you will continue to submit enhancement suggestions for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS.
Sincerely,
Db2 for z/OS Team
Hello
Our goal is will make preemptive alerts for shortages in 24, 31, and 64 bit private memory. In other products, we have implemented automations with existing messages related with shortage private memory.
IFCID 225 gives us useful data for 31-bit such as QW0225RG, QW0225A, QW0225RG, QW0225GM, QW0225VR, QW0225FX, or QW0225GS.
However, for 24- or 64-bit, we do not see any fields that collect information similar to those for 31-bit in the IFCID 225.
Dear Aaron, Thank you for submitting this enhancement request. Our Db2 for z/OS SME for this component area reviewed your request and indicated different vendors already monitor Db2's storage consumption as well as the availability of the different areas/regions that Db2 uses. These vendor monitors use different storage statistics made available from IFCID 225.
Is this information helpful to you? If not, can you be more specific as to what you are looking for, such as for available private storage other than Db2's DBM1 and DIST access spaces that is provided via the IFCID 225?
Please let us know.
Sincerely,
The Db2 for z/OS team
