Provision summary report on data archival processing

An enhancement or a new menu is needed in Optim to generate and show a report on archival and deletion processing summary so far OR based on some filters. Below is the business case.

Requirement:

Customers have been using the Optim based archival solution in production for many years now, and everyone wants to know the amount of data they archived so far as Optim licensing is based on amount of data archived.

Current options and Challenges:

Option 1:

Capture the stats manually from Optim reports of all archival executions from the beginning till date.

Challenges:

  • Some of the reports are being lost by the team and/or not generated by Optim due to issues
  • Human errors in recording the details from generated reports

Option 2:

Capture these stats from Optim tables like OPTIM_AUDIT_RECORDS and OPTIM_TRANSACTION_CONTENT directly.

Challenges:

  • No certified way of doing this by Optim users themselves
  • No clarity on Optim product tables and relations between them in capturing these stats
  • External archive files (which were created from one other source database) those registered in the production Optim setup (to maintain all historical data in one single repository) are not inserting appropriate meta data into Optim tables
  • Inappropriate reporting of archived data in this way (that is not certified by IBM) may create legal issues

If this is done then there needs to be someway to exclude test archives.
