Building a set for a view in PAW, the system tries to record the parent of a selected member whenever it can with a MUN of the format “PARENT^ELEMENT” (in order to be make the drill-up function available). However our end-user won’t make the difference between selecting a member A from hierarchy 1 or from hierarchy 2. That’s because, to them, an element is an element and will always display the same data wherever this element was taken from. The original intent of the user is just to select an element whereas the system assumes that the intent was to select an element under a specific parent. Large applications subjected to very frequent referential changes will result in many corrupted views breaks since referential change will break these MUNs
Furthermore, Cognos Analytics, when plugged to TM1 cubes, does have an error correcting algorithm that replace the corrupted members by the first instance of the members as found in the dimension. This results in a BI report that can't be corrupted by a referential change. Having an error correcting algorithm on PAW side would further align both software into a comprehensive solution.
Please consult the attached business case for a detailed example
