Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea
Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests
The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Receive notification on the decision
Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.
Blocking Db2 connections to reduce the DSNL030I message flooding.
Often times, an invalid password or a revoked ID results in DSNL030I message. Some web based applications does not have error handling for this message and keeps on trying to connect to Db2 sometimes at a rate of hundreds per second. This flood of...
enhance smf records for reporting secure connections
When just beginning to implement secure db2 ports (sometimes called encryption in-flight), it is helpful to report on the performance of queries that are secure vs queries that are non-secure. This can help us to fully tune our applications for th...
Modify the DSNJU003 utility to allow it to define anything stored in the Db2 BSDS
When creating and new Db2 member, we must bring it all the way up before we can create the bufferpools, size them, and set the thresholds. We would like the ability to defined them prior to starting the Db2 member/subsystem. When creating an alias...
Use permanent database for DSNTRVFY rather than implicit database
Each time we run DSNTIJRV, the DSNTRVFY program creates the DSNTRVFY.VALIDATION_TABLE in an implicitly-created database, which the process then leaves hanging around with no objects in it. Both empty databases and implicitly-created databases viol...
With Triggers you cannot use the REBIND option OWNER on a rebind. Why not? Not even for EXPLAIN(ONLY). We must get the ability, like with "normal" packages, to EXPLAIN into another set of EXPLAIN tables. Further, if you are using Advanced Triggers...
real append processing on insert for LOB when specifying append
Our customers send us many millions of documents every day, which we have to save in the form of LOBs very quickly and without interruption in DB2. For this we use the APPEND option to be able to process the inserts as quickly as possible. Unfortu...
Stop package invalidation after ALTER MAXPARTITIONS
These days in an agile world we have to ALTER PBG spaces on-the-fly to raise the MAXPARTITIONS value. Sadly this ALTER, even though it is an immediate ALTER, sets all dependent packages to VALID = 'N' which is, of course, a disaster.
Add REMARKS column to SYSIBM.SYSDATABASE and COMMENT support for database object
We would like to ask you, to add the REMARKS column in SYSIBM.SYSDATABASE and support for COMMENT statement for databases. There is no possibility currently to store some form of a description for databases in DB2 catalog. In big sites where thous...
A number of our common customers run DB2 utilities from third party vendors and IBM replication solutions. They are requesting that our LOAD and REORG utilities write the old dictionary pages to the log for later retrieval by a replication product...
