Enable local cache for Vendor Specific functions

Problem Statement : Local cache does not work when user defined or vendor specific functions are used in queries.

Description:

Currently there is a functionality in COGNOS FM or reporting tool to turn on local cache to re- use query cache for subsequent report run after the 1st run of the report.

While this configurations works well for common functions , the real issue comes when user defined or vendor specific functions are used in queries ( example - LAST_VALUE, YEAR(), TO_CHAR()).

This causes query execution each time user runs the report. Enabling re-use of local cache with vendor specific functions will help in improving performance of the report as well as result in efficient use of queries.

Request:

  • Add a setting (or switch) to allow UDFs (Vendor specific function) in reusable queries
