Write Current Compression Dictionary to Log

See this idea on ideas.ibm.com

Write compression dictionary to the Log upon its creation.

This would enable true independence of data capture from actual table space availability and/or status.

By implication, this might eliminate the need to write the old dictionary to the log upon Load or Reorg.

Thank you. CDDS is much better than my idea.

Dear Michael, Thanks for submitting the idea. Strategically, Db2 is being enhanced to store expansion dictionaries in a secondary data store called the CDDS (Compression Dictionary Data Set) whenever a new dictionary is being built for replication usage. There is no plan to write the current dictionary in use to the Db2 log as a result.

We appreciate your input to the Db2 for z/OS development team. And we hope that you will continue to submit enhancement suggestions for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS.

    Sincerely,

    Db2 for z/OS Team
