Identify a more representative selectivity for common predicates

Our queries have predicates that many queries share in common where the default selectivity is significantly outside the range of what ever actually occurs. This results in poor and/or unstable query performance.

For common predicates with high uncertainty, we would like
DB2 to identify a more representative selectivity for common predicates on a table than current default selectivities. Our environment has significant dynamic query variation for very similar access patterns.

Solutions that require statement text matching (Optimization Hints) are a problem because there are so many query variations and new variations arise after we implement statement text matching solutions.

RFE is encouraged by Patrick Bosman.

    Dear Wiltrud,

Thank you for submitting this Db2 for z/OS enhancement request.

After giving the request another comprehensive review, we have determined that we cannot include it as a candidate in an upcoming product deliverable because the request has a very high implementation cost with a low relative value.

Consequently, we will not be implementing this request.

We appreciate your input to the Db2 for z/OS development team. We also hope that you will continue to submit ideas for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS.

    Sincerely,

    Db2 for z/OS Team
