Support Common Table Expression (CTE) in NTE

Today, the using of Common Table Expression (CTE) is limited only to the beginning of the select statement.

There are many products, specially open source, but not only, that take every select statement and cover it by SELECT * from (nte).

When there is a CTE in the select statement, the result is:

SELECT * from(WITH…)

In this case we got SQLCODE = -199

In many dbms, this syntax is legal.

    What's the point of that syntax ?

    It certainly could be supported but it would take away the benefits of the CTE and make the statement less readable...

    I'd say that you should stick to the syntax:

    with TMP1 as (),

    TMP2 as () .... -- as many CTEs as necessary

    select ... from TMP1 join ....

    It's so much more readable

    Thank you for submitting this Db2 for z/OS enhancement request.

    After giving the request a comprehensive review, we have determined that we cannot include it in our upcoming 24 month forecast, due to the high implementation cost. Consequently, for now this Idea is not under consideration.

    We may re-evaluate this request for delivery at a future time.
