Started last weeks activating FTB in development systems by using ZPARM DSN6SPRM.INDEX_MEMORY_CONTROL. Tried to get information using
-DISPLAY STATS(INDEXMEMORYUSAGE) LIMIT(*)
-DISPLAY STATS(INDEXTRAVERSECOUNT).
i thought i will get deeper to it by having the TRAV. COUNT. But always this value changes from large figures to low and back. Asked in a pmr TS012980134 and the collegues helps me to get a better understanding. Still there is no realy touch to what i would expect. The counter shows for the end user random values when ever the display has requested. So how can i belong on values to interpret if i hit a cadidate or not.
In an other table : SYSIBM.SYSINDEXCONTROL i can place objects that should be FTB candidates or not. This must be done by sql insert take a longer list of parameters. In direction of "making dB2" managebel in a easy way most of us will create a little ISPF application . So why not having a easy to handle tool by selecting candidates (in case the counter works usable) in bringing it in the control table. I thing FTB could be a helpful function but the handling should be more transparant for the end user.

Dear Sven, Thank you for submitting this enhancement request. The Db2 for z/OS development team completed their review of this idea and provided the following feedback:
Because algorithms already record what makes sense for humans to observe and telemetry is changing too fast for manual tools other than permanent decisions based on general workload knowledge to make sense, we will not be considering this enhancement request.
We appreciate your input to the Db2 for z/OS development team. And we hope that you will continue to submit enhancement suggestions for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS.
Sincerely,
Db2 for z/OS Team
