"Index on expression" should be used more

By implementing an "index on expression", a DBA has the ability to tune many queries that are written poorly without changing the query. This is very useful and allows a DBA to rapidly respond to a performance problem. However, there are some times when an expression is used on a column (for a predicate) and implementing an index on that expression results does not yet allow DB2 to utilize that index. One example of this that is noted in the PMR is when the predicate expr(COL) LIKE expr. If a query is written in this way, a rewrite of the query is needed to exploit a "index on expression".
