High availability for IMS CDC in a SYSPLEX environment

We are currently implementing CDC for IMS in our Production environment.

This consists of 2 IMS v15.2 systems running on 2 different LPAR's, in a SYSPLEX.

The OS on both are currently z/OS 2.3.

CDC for IMS runs on 1 LPAR, replicating the LOGS of both IMS systems, off to a KAFKA frontend.

The data is then sent to a different HADOOP server for consumption.

At initial implementation, we assumed that CDC IMS functions the same as CDC DB2.

Ie, 2 tasks active on the 2 different LPAR's, and when the Primary is unavailable, it automatically switches to the Secondary.

Unfortunately we have learnt, from investigations and conversations with IBM support, that the same is not true for CDC IMS.

So the request here is for a solution for IMS CDC to be able to deliver near real time replication 24/7 365 days a year.

There is currently a drive to develop solutions, utilizing CDC IMS, to improve our Fraud Detection.

Once we have proven this, there are other applications interested in jumping on this bandwagon.

    IBM update.

    Thanks for filing this requirement. We think it's a valid request to make but the work is not prioritized at this time. To help with future prioritization, we will monitor for additional user/client feedback i.e. more requests for similar capabilities.

    The sooner a solution can be developed, the sooner alerts for unauthorized client data changes can be sent.

    Currently the delays are becoming unacceptable.
