Auditing administrative authorities in DB2 zOS with RACF-Exit DSNX$XAC

DB2 IFCID361 should be written when an administrative authority is used - Independent of the security exit used.

When using the full RACF-Exit DSNX$XAC DB2 IFCID361 is not written/supressed , as RACF grants the access -- but does not give back to DB2 if the access was given due to a explicit grant or due to a administrative authority.

The RACF-Guide states, that in this case an RACF SMF 80 record could be scheduled -- but this SMF-Record is NOT equivalent as it does NOT show the DB2-Action (SQL/DDL etc) which would be included in DB2 IFCID361

There would be 2 Solutions
1) enrich RACF-SMF-80 Records with the DB2-actions
2) the RACF-Exit should give back to DB2 not just on "o.k." but what kind of authorization was used for the permit -- so DB2 can write IFCID361 when an administrative authority was used.

(Annotation; for INSTALL SYSADM/SYSOPR the IFCID361 ist written as DB2 checks the permission itself .. but for all other adminstrative authorities not as they are checked from RACF when using RACF-exit DSNX$XAC)

Thank you for submitting this Db2 for z/OS enhancement request.

We have reviewed this request and believe it is a good candidate for the Db2 for z/OS product. However, it is not in our current roadmap and we are unable to deliver it within the next 24 months. Therefore, unfortunately, we will not be implementing this Idea.

We appreciate your input to the Db2 for z/OS development team. We also hope that you will continue to submit ideas for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS.

    Sincerely,

    Db2 for z/OS Team
